Create depth of field: You can quite easily add depth of field to the images that you have taken “snaps” of. If you have an image that is completely in focus and the background too is in focus (a common effect of non SLR digital point and shoot cameras) the you can solve this using Photoshop. You simply draw a mask or make a selection around the subject, invert that mask so that it selects all but the subject and apply a blur effect to the part of the image that is selected. In the later versions of Photoshop there is actually a filter that emulates the natural lens blur. The end result is a sharp, in focus subject with an out of focus background. This can be very effective and can draw attention to the subject. Microsoft Office Picture Manager is the Microsoft Office System 2003 tool you can use to manage, edit, and share your pictures. Besides their trusty camera digital photographers need a full cache of arsenal. All digital photographers must have a complete range of adequate picture database software, this includes digital camera import and downloader software to automate the photo transfer process, a photo organizer, or a photo gallery/ album software with detailed picture database capabilities and editing software for taking care of simple but necessary picture enhancements or for the more adventurous, complete digital manipulation.- RoboImport – A very affordable digital camera import software that automates the workflow required when downloading your photographs from your digital camera or memory card reader. Sometimes, clear lines that separate the images in the panorama may appear. It is possible to blend the lines so that they disappear. Select the Advance Blending option located at the right of the Photomerge window, then select Preview. Inconsistencies in color will be calculated by the program. At this point, the images will blend together. Photoshop will combine all the individual images for your panoramic into a single layer. If you select the Keep as Layers option it is easier to edit each image individually. This is a great help if one of the images is brighter or darker then the other images. You can select that image in layers and adjust the brightness for just that image. It is a good idea to save the layers as a .psd file so that you can always come back and correct any mistakes or make any changes later. It’s a real pain to have to redo everything from scratch just if you made a mistake or want to change something later. You can also distort the pictures so that the scene will look like it is in perspective. Choose the Perspective option on the bottom of Settings. You can also do this by choosing Set Vanishing Point in the Photomerge window, then click to an area in the panorama.
When it comes to exporting its images, Photoshop allows seamless program shifts among other Adobe software used in image editing, authoring and animation such as Adobe Illustrator, ImageReady and After Effects. Photoshop files (.PSD or Photoshop document format) may be manipulated to produce special effects such as adding textures and changing backgrounds. Non-linear editing is also a breeze. Another advantage of Photoshop is that it can work with several color models such as RGB, CMYK, Lab, Bitmap, Duotone and Grayscale. This allows any user a lot of flexibility in terms of image editing, giving him the power to play with every type of photo image there is. The newest version of Photoshop is v. 10, also known as CS3. It’s integrated with Adobe Creative Suite, hence the ‘CS’. The most popular, though is the CS2 which was made available in 2005. It has successfully integrated new tools and former plugins like color replacement, warping and multiple-layer select.
If you are a home user or hobbyist, save your money and go with Photoshop Elements instead of Photoshop CS. It has all the features of Photoshop that you are likely to ever need. When you are working on a picture you will find that you need a specific color from one area of the picture to also be on a different area. Photoshop has a handy tool made exactly for this, it is called the eyedropper tool. When you use the eyedropper tool then you can even pick up a color not only from the image opened in the Photoshop’s workspace but from other applications too. Look at the picture below. We reduced the size of the Photoshop window. We want to pick up the color of the sky from a photo on a web-page (Internet Explorer). This makes the eyedropper a very handy tool for what you will need in other applications or simple inside photoshop.
Filters will allow you to be able to apply different feelings to a picture. By applying different filters, you can change the color of an image to a single one, converted it to black and white or a sepia tone. The possibilities for adding and varying creative filter effects are virtually endless. To change the intensity of a filter, some programs let you “fade” the effect directly after it is applied. If you use layers, the transparency of the layer where the filter was applied can be reduced.
